Review in More Detail

We tried out the Razer Electra V2 gaming headphones in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphones and headset test, especially when it comes to gaming. Here are our findings below…

Sound Quality

When it comes to headphones for gaming, you want the sound quality to be top-notch. After all, that’s the purpose of headphones, to listen to things. It’s important that if a gaming headphones wireless is trying to be one of the best gaming headphones on the market, that they take sound quality highly into consideration when creating their gaming headphones wireless.

Razer Electra V2

The sound quality that emerges from the Razer Electra V2 gaming headphones has is pretty above average. When it comes to sound, the Razer Electra V2 headphones do a fantastic job of having a well-balanced bass that’s not too strong but certainly not too weak either. During your online gaming sessions, you will be able to have crystal clear sound and easily hear every effect. We definitely found that this made the gaming experience extra enjoyable.

When it comes to the best gaming headphones, you definitely need to be looking for gaming headphones for mics. Especially since a lot of gamers play on life these days or even do video recordings of them playing their games, mics are simply a must. We would have preferred if the Razer Electra V2 headphones had a gooseneck style microphone to be better at producing sound that is equivalent to the speakers, but we weren’t overly impressed by this quality.

That being said, these gaming headphones with mic excels in other aspects of sound quality so if you’re not looking to be a professional YouTube gamer, the microphone not being the top of the top in terms of gaming headphones with mics, may not be your biggest concern. However, on the flip side if the microphone is really important to you and your gaming experience, then you may want to look at other gaming headphones for a more suitable option.

Build Quality

There’s a lot that goes into headphones to make them be considered some of the best gaming headphones. The Razer Electra, is designed by an American manufacturer that selected materials that overall make the build of the headphones fairly solid, yet does feature lighter materials such as plastic throughout the design. It features black plastic around the ear cups and a couple of buttons to adjust the volume and the microphone.

The design and the material that is used clearly screams gaming headset and may make the headphones a little less appealing to the standard headphone listener, but that’s okay since they are designed and marketed towards gamers. With the level of arch, imitation leather, and mesh fabric, your gaming headphones, although a bit bold, have a touch of elegance and a lot of comfort designed inside, but has been very well received when it comes to the gaming community.

Design

We briefly mentioned above how these gaming headphones scream gaming headphones with their design aspects and overall build. However, there’s nothing wrong with that, especially if you’re using them for their intended purpose…gaming.

The design of this headset features materials such as durable plastic and some features of metal as well. You can feel confident that this headset is fairly durable and will definitely hold up for years to come when it comes to your daily gaming sessions. With it being made from plastic construction, however, the Razer Electra headphones will hold up over time as long as you don’t abuse them and store them properly where they are out of harms way.

It’s a practical headset with fully customizable options to adjust to fit just about any size head and shape and truly perfectly fit your skull – making them great for younger gamers as well. Once you have your perfect fit, don’t worry about the headset sliding off as once it’s installed, it’s not going to move or slide around at all.

The microphone is placed at the end of a flexible arm which is great for group games and also allows you to remove it if unnecessary. So if you’re wanting to go mic free, you don’t have to worry about. a pesky mic getting in the way of your gaming session. As we mentioned, we weren’t overly thrilled with the quality of the microphone, but that being said, the design aspect of the microphone making it very flexible and easily able to get out of the way is a great feature and we are impressed with that aspect of the microphone.

Features and Controls

Razer Electra V2

To be considered one of the best gaming headphones, you need to have certain features and controls that are essential to any gamer. Although we weren’t overly impressed with the amount of features that the Razer Electra V2 has, they did have some standard options like a mute button, increase and decrease volume, and a cable so you can attach your phone or other music compatible devices as well. That being said, we did have a harder time plugging the plugin the game controller compared to other gaming headphones wireless we’ve tried out. It’s also important to note that these gaming headphones wireless are actually not really wireless at all with the fact that you have to plug them in. Although many people think that they feature a wireless design, it’s actually quite the opposite.

Set up is really easy with the Razer Electra headphones and there is no additional software required before you use it. Simply connect the headphones and away you go. There is the Razer Surround software which is optional to use. This will imitate the sensation of surround sound in your headset and give you incredible sound quality if that’s what you’re after during your games.

Comfort

Comfort was definitely a feature considered when designing the Razer Electra V2 wireless gaming headset and it should be, after all, you’d probably be wearing them for a while. There is a faux leather padding on the ear cups which gives a comfortable experience. You may notice that when you first put the headphones on, a tight pressure because the hoop is a bit tight. However, once your head gets used to. the headphones and the headphones also get used to your head, you will not notice this pressure and can easily wear the headphones through your game.

If you’re looking to play games for 8+ more hours, however, it’s important to make sure there is no discomfort at all, even if it’s really slight. We had heard from some users that the pressure does return after extended wearing of the headphones, so if you’re planning on playing long games, this is definitely something to consider and something from the SteelSeries may be more up your alley. Some people didn’t experience any discomfort at all but it just depends on how long you’re planning on playing, if you more sensitive to pressure, and what feels right on your head when you’re playing your game.

Comparing to Similar Headphones

When looking to compare the Razer Electra V2 to other gaming headphones wireless on the market, there’s a lot of options. There’s a lot of headphones that claim to the title of best gaming headphones, so it’s hard to narrow down a pick of the best headphone to compare the Razer to.

We opted for something within the Razer range already and decided to compare the Razer Electra V2 to the Razer Kraken headset. As you would expect with being from the same brand, there is no doubt a lot of similarities between the two style headphones and we have found quite a few similarities and only some slight differences that do end up making a decent impact when it comes to deciding between the two. When it comes to the shape of the ear cups to the insulation and design, they are very, very similar.

The two have built-in stereo speakers which allows them to produce great quality through both the left and the right speakers. The Kraken Pro has a slight advantage over the Electra V2 with the fact that it’s cable to connect to devices is slightly longer and gives you a lot more freedom and flexibility due to its length. That being said, it should be noted that this cable is not actually detachable, which means it can be broken and tangled more easily as well.

In terms of sound, the two headphones are nearly identical, and have a very similar style when it comes. to the passive noise isolation components since they both have a similar build. We did notice the sound pressure level with the Kraken Pro a little bit higher which gave it a louder sound if that’s something that is extremely important to you.

Overall, there isn’t too much difference when it comes to the two headsets, only slight features and changes that may sway you one way or the other. Deciding between the two Razer headphones depends on your needs, preferences, and the features and functions you’re after when it comes to your gaming headphones.

Overall Thoughts

When it comes to our overall conclusion, do we think it’s one of the best gaming headphones on the market today, not necessarily. Do we still think it’s a fantastic option when it comes to gaming headphones? Absolutely. If you’re looking for gaming headphones wireless, it’s not your ideal choice, especially with the fact that it’s not even wireless. You have to plug it in to the detachable cord, but that also makes it compatible with all sorts of audio devices.

With it’s extremely high sound quality and the simple, but mostly comfortable design, we are pretty happy with the overall product that Razer has put out with the Razer Electra V2. Is the Razer Electra V2 for you? You need to take in factors like how long you’ll be wearing the headphones for, your intended purpose, will you be voice recording, and a few other things discussed above, on whether they’re the right headphones for you.
