Review and Test: Sennheiser RS 175 Headphones

Sennheiser isn’t the most popular brand name on the market today. If you’re a movie junkie, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Sennheiser before. There’s a lot of pros when it comes to wireless headphones. It allows you to move around the house and especially when it comes to watching your favorite TV show, being able to have it on while you’re working around the house, cooking dinner, or anything of the sort, without distracting anyone else in the home, is fantastic.

That’s exactly what Sennheiser designed with the Sennheiser wireless RS 175 headphones.

A lot of people today search for Sennheiser wireless earbuds, but today we’re going to talk about the Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones, the perfect TV companion.

When it comes to doing a complete review on these Sennheiser RS 175 headphones, we think it’s important to start off with the pros and cons before jumping right into the review.

Review in More Detail

We tried out the Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphone test. Here are our findings below…

Sound Quality

We found that with these RS 175 headphones that the overall sound is pretty solid. The headphones feature a medium tone and extended bass along with a nice treble level and good overall balance. We did however notice that the headphones don’t really have the best distortion performance, in fact, we noticed that the intermittent volume drops coming out of our spring.

With using a headset when watching movies or TV programs, you have a completely different experience with a wealth of frequencies. With this particular Sennheiser RS 175 headset, we love the fact that it features surround sound. This gives you a completely different experience than traditionally watching a movie, even on your speakers.

Noise Cancelling

When it comes to noise cancelling, Sennheiser wireless earbuds are a popular choice. That being said, these headphones isolate you very well and cancel any outside noise while being able to have pretty clear audio at the same time. With that in mind, it’s a bit strange to us that these headphones don’t actually have a noise cancelling inside the headphones.

So unless you’re watching a movie on full blast, no one else will be able to hear you and chances are you won’t be able to hear anyone else as well.

The Build

One element that we really appreciate about these Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones is the fact that it’s extremely robust and hardy when it comes to the design aspect of it. We noticed that the headset is extremely firm which helps prevent any breakage from happening from dropping or traveling. The padding on the ear and head piece is extremely thick and plush which makes for overall extreme comfort over long periods of time.

Although the headset is made with plastic and plastic can get a bad rep sometimes, this plastic seems pretty robust and high-quality. This will ensure that you’re able to have this headset for years to come. With all the design and build aspects, it has made Sennheiser definitely ahead of the wireless TV headphone game.

If you compare this Sennheiser wireless to other Sennheiser wireless headphones you may be underwhelmed with the design aspects. They look fairly simple and quite frankly, not that elegant at all.

We believe that this was completely intentional of Sennheiser to do in order to reach another target demographic. The headphones are a completely dark black color and suitable for people who want the headphones to blend in and not be too flashy. We can clearly tell that the designer of this headset really focused on efficiency rather than style, so if you’re someone that is looking for a wow-factor headphones, this headset may not be the right one for you.

However, with all that being said, the designer did a good job in our opinion because the headset is quite solid and practical for its purpose.

Review and Test: Sennheiser RS 175 Headphones

The features of the Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones, regardless if it’s the Sennheiser RS 175 headphones or Sennheiser wireless earbuds, are some of the most important things to take into consideration when purchasing a headset.

We noticed that overall, the RS 175 is pretty easy to use and is one of the more user friendly options on the market today. It features two connections that are compatible with 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. It’s also connected by radio frequency which is great but you may find sometimes you hear some interference from time to time.

Other than that, the features are pretty simple and allow you to focus on high-quality listening and not fidgeting with tons of different settings and buttons.

The ear cups in these headphones are a little more flattened than we would normally expect, but they’re still pretty comfortable. The double headband featured is well padded and pretty thick as well which definitely enhances your listening experience. The padding is great, but it’s also the aspect that really makes the headset look rather big and quite bulky.

The headband can also be adjusted really easily so no matter what your head shape is, you can fit these headphones to your liking. With 18 hours of battery life, you can watch plenty of TV shows and movies without any interruptions and having to stop and charge the headset.

Comparing to Other Sennheiser Headphones

Movie headphones are more unique than wireless Bluetooth headsets that are more popular today. We thought the best option to compare these Sennheiser RS 175 headphones to is the Sennheiser RS 195 headphones, similar headsets that it would be great to understand the differences and similarities of the two.

In terms of the design of the two headsets, they both have the same structure and detachable cable. They’re great for storing and also provide extra freedom to the user at the same time. They both produce a well balanced sound through both the left and right and are both foldable for easy storage or transportation if necessary.

The sound is pretty identical, so if you’re looking at the two headphones based on sound quality, you may have a hard time distinguishing between the two. They both have thick padding and closed ear cups which allows them to have passive noise isolation without having the noise cancelling system in place.

Both headsets are not compatible with WiFi and are rechargeable with mobile batteries with a battery level indicator.

The two headsets at the end of the day are very very similar. There’s a slight difference when it comes to the weight of the headphones but other than that, it’s hard to tell them apart in appearance or sound quality.

Overall Thoughts

The Sennheiser RS 175 headset is a comfortable wireless headset that is better than most other competitors on the market today. Movie headphones or TV headphones are more a niche setting, but Sennheiser clearly has their design and sound quality to a science and has been producing great quality headphones one right after another.

These digital wireless headphones offer terrific sound quality and allow you to walk around the house and have the freedom to practically do anything while you’re watching your favorite TV show. Although they don’t have noise cancelling properties, with the closed ear design, you won’t really have to worry about any passive noise interrupting your favorite program.

They’re really comfortable and easy to adjust and with the 18-hour battery life, it means that you can comfortably watch TV and movies for hours on end without any interruptions. Overall, if you’re looking for headphones for TV, these are definitely a perfect option in our opinion.
