As we’ve mentioned with a lot of our other posts in the past, just because something is popular, doesn’t mean that it’s worth the money. That’s exactly what we’re going to find out today in this complete, comprehensive Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii review.
Pros and Cons
When it comes to doing a complete Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii review, we think it’s important to start off with the pros and cons before jumping right into the Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii review.

Review in More Detail
We tried out the Bose QuietComfort 35 ii in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphone test. Here are our findings below…
In terms of sound quality for the Bose Quietcomfort 35 2, the sound quality is some of the best in the world – in our opinion. When it comes to the Bose Quietcomfort 35, the Bose Quietcomfort 35 2 doesn’t have any major changes when it comes to the microphone or hands-free function. That’s a good thing, however, because the quality of those areas of the headphones certainly didn’t need much improvement at all. We were able to hear the voices loud and clear no matter what kind of environment we were in.
We did notice a few sound issues so to speak. We noticed that there was a slight drop in the bass and treble, but that’s pretty typical for Bose headphones that tend to produce sounds that are more midrange to low in a way. That being said, the final sound is extremely distinct and all sounds can be distinguished when you’re listening to them with the Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii on.
When the headphones are turned off and you’re using the Bose headphones with a wire instead, the audio quality isn’t necessarily as good and may let in some passive background noise since the headphones aren’t technically on.
When it came to the noise reduction capabilities of this Bose headphone model, we tried it in various setting to make sure that we were getting a good understanding of the system and its capabilities. We tested the Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii voice assistant in a variety of different level noise environments to make sure that voice assistant would be able to hear us with the tiny microphone that the Bose headset has.
We found that even in the most noise environments, the Bose Quietcomfort 35 2 did a pretty great job at recognizing our voice and the sound that came out was very clear and free from any of the outside background noise. If the environment was extremely noisey, we did notice that we had to repeat ourselves a couple of times, but overall it did a pretty good job at filtering out the background noise and hearing us pretty clarly.
In terms of noise reduction with headphones, these Bose headphones are some of the best which is exactly what you would expect with a name like QuietComfort.
Between the Quietcomfort 1 and Quietcomfort 2, there hasn’t been too many changes when it comes to design and the overall build style of the two headphones and we don’t blame Bose for that. The first model of the QuietComfort headphones is very highly rated, so it would make sense why Bose would continue that say design and level of build quality with the second model as well.
However, Bose engineers did opt to use stainless steel and a glass-filled nylon to cover this model of the headphones which truly makes it extremely durable and resists any corrosion that normally happens over time for most other headphones on the market today. It also gives the headphones a bit more of an elevated appearance and fancier looking as well. This will make the headphones appeal to a much more diverse crowd as well.
It’s important that your headphones are comfortable. It’s great if they play amazing, high-quality sound, but if they’re not comfortable, you won’t want to wear them, especially not for long periods of time. Bose headphones are some of the most comfortable headphones on the market today as their design team has really made comfort one of their top priorities and something that they’ve definitely taken into consideration when designing these QuietComfort 35 headphones.
When it comes to music, you will have a flawless experience. However, when it comes to movies or watching YouTube videos, we did notice some slight issues with Bluetooth Connection and delay with sound and the picture. This didn’t happen every time we watched YouTube but did happen a few times that it’s definitely worth noting.
Bose headphones are known for their sleek, professional looking design and build quality. Bose has got their design process down to a science and with that, you’ll find that a lot of their headphones look rather similar. This is smart in our opinion because if it’s working, why fix it?
In terms of design, the Bose QuietComfort 35 2, as mentioned above, is not much different than the first version before. This second version features a very slim and refined design, similar to the first design. The Google Assistant button is located right on the right ear cup which allows you to use voice command to operate a variety of different functions.
The headset has overall been designed to feature a variety of multi-functional buttons so that the headphones are still able to maintain their sleek appearance, but functional design. You will see that there’s a power switch button on the right earpiece as well and there’s a USB input at the bottom which allows you to connect directly to your listening device.
Overall, the second model of the Quietcomfort is pretty much very comparable to the first previous model. You can choose between the classic black or gray colors, sticking in a very neutral color pallet.
Features and Controls
When it comes to finding the right headphones for you, there’s a variety of different things you need to take into consideration. The features and the controls are some of the most important aspects of the headphones for many users, which is why we spend going over the key features and noteworthy controls so you can see if this headphone matches not only your needs, but your wants as well.
First, we noticed that connecting your device to the Bose Quietcomfort 35 headphones was a very quick and painless process. So easy that you can actually easily connect two devices in half the time it takes some headphones to connect just one.
We did notice that there is a slight upgrade from the first model with the single button on the left ear cup that’s referred to as the “Action Button” and activates the Google Assistant. Other than that, the standard buttons are kept in their normal position.
With the new addition of Google Assistant, you can get your notifications read to use, respond to messages, activate different features, all with the sound of your voice. This is especially great if you’re walking, running, working out, or on your commute and don’t want to take your phone out to answer the phone or respond to a text message.
As with most Bose headphones, you can connect the Bose Quietcomfort 35 headphones to the Bose Connect app which provides you with a variety of other features as well including the indicator of the battery level, the music that is playing, and mention important information about your listening device. You can also adjust the noise reduction level right on the app as well.
The Bose Quietcomfort 35 2 also features Bluetooth 4.1 which provides a very stable Bluetooth connection. You do have the option to have the headphones be off and listen to your music via a cord as well.
As with all Bose headphones, the Bose QuietComfort 35 ii features a user manual which will go over all the features and functions of your new headset. This will truly help you understand how to operate the headphones and get the most out of your listening experience.
Comparing to Sony WH-1000XM2
When it comes to the Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii review compared to the other previous models, there are a few things that have been changed, for the better. We already did a brief comparison to the previous Quietcomfort model throughout this review that we thought that it would be more beneficial to do a review on a different brand, but a comparable model.
The Sony WH-1000XM2 is a popular rival to the Quietcomfort as it’s very comparable with a variety of similar features and sound quality. Both models are very robust and druable headphones that are defintely meant to stand the test of time. In terms of design the Bose headphones are more flexible and are made with a little bit more durable materials than the Sony headphones.
When it comes to comfort, both are very comfortable but the Bose headphones are slightly lighter than the Sony headphones. Both headphones connect very fast and have a stable connection via Bluetooth. Bose offers various language options for Google Assistant while Sony only offers English.
Sony beats the Bose headphones in terms of battery life by offering 30 hours of battery life compared to the 22 hours that the Bose offers. When it comes to sound quality, they’re both fairly equal in terms of quality and balance.

When it comes to the Bose Quietcomfort 35 2 headphones, there isn’t much that has changed between the previous model, the QuietComfort 1 Bose headphones. That being said, there are a few slight differences that truly make a world of difference when it comes to your listening experience. The main difference is that the power to reduce external noise has increased dramatically which is great if you’re looking to wear these headphones on a busy commute, at the gym, or somewhere that there’s a lot of traffic.
We do love the feature of the Google Assistant so you can answer messages and voice other commands without ever having to take your phone out of your pocket. Overall, whether you choose the first version of the second, the Bose Quietcomfort headphones are definitely some of the best headphones on the market today.
