What’s Changed

From the previous Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones to the Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones a few small details have changed. That being said, these small details make a world of difference when it comes to audio quality and overall sound.

The aim of launching the Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones was to improve the reduction of noise-canceling properties. This new model is designed to reduce surrounding noise and intensely compete with other noise-canceling headphones on the market today.

There are a variety of other design elements and additional features that have changed with the newer model, which we will discuss down below.

Review in More Detail

We tried out the Beats Solo 3 in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphone test. Here are our findings below…

Sound Quality

Beats Solo 3 Review: A Comprehensive Review

Beats are known for their sound quality and when you spend some time and really focus on listening to the audio that the Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones put out, you will notice that there has been a focus on the bass when it comes to design.

With all Beat headphones, the bass is pretty present which is great if you want to watch movies or heavy bass audio. When watching TV, we noticed that the sound was pretty amazing and very responsive. We love that there was no wire, as these Beats Solo 3 are wireless, which makes you be able to focus on the sound and not so much an annoying cord getting in your way.

We did unfortunately notice that the microphone is not the best. During calls, we did notice some disturbances and the quality was overall not the best.

Noise Reduction

Noise reduction is a must for most headphone buyers today and is quite an intelligent aspect to have. The Beats Solo 3 aren’t necessarily noise-canceling headphones but they do quite a good job isolating noise from the outside world. With the shape, it allows the ear pads to fully encompass the ear and create a noise reduction-like setting.

Comfort

The comfort of the Beats Solo 3 headphones is something that we’ve actually noticed since being updated. The earpads have been redesigned to better allow pressure to be distributed more evenly around the ears. This new redesign definitely makes it a lot more comfortable.

You can comfortably wear the headphones for hours on end and the pressure on your ears won’t change. The rubber liner is the only thing that can sometimes make wearing for a long period of time uncomfortable, but overall, it’s fairly comfortable.

That being said, we would have been happier if the arch would have been adjusted a little bit more to relieve some pressure. There is an improvement from the Beats Solo 2, but it’s still not 100% for us yet.

Design

The Beats Solo headphones regardless if you purchase the 2 version or the 3 versions, they will be designed pretty much the same. The most drastic difference between the two is that there are additional features in the Beats Solo 3 version that isn’t in the version prior. The shape of the headset is a little smaller than the previous model and the shape of the hoop allows for a more secure fit on your head.

There is a variety of colors to choose from as well so you’re bound to find a color that matches your style. Our personal pick has to be the Beats Solo 3 Black version because we absolutely love the matte black design, but the Beats Solo 3 wireless rose gold is definitely a sleek option as well.

Features and Controls

Beats Solo 3 Review: A Comprehensive Review

Below the right ear, you will find buttons that control turning the headset on and off. There’s also an indicator of the battery level as well. You can use that same button to activate the Bluetooth when needed as well.

On the left side, that’s where you’re able to control the volume with the action of pressing up or down. You can double-tap to skip a song and then also take a call in this same region. If you press for a long time, you also have access to Siri on your iPhone which is a nice addition.

We really like that this headset has the integration of a W1 chip. This increases your battery to 40 hours of listening time which is a huge difference compared to the 12 hours that the Solo 2 had. It has a fast charge time with just charging 5 minutes, you can use your headset for up to 2 hours.

Comparing to Beats Solo 2

When it comes to the Beats Solo 3 Wireless review compared to the other previous models, there are a few things that have been changed, for the better.

The Beats Solo 3 headphones have a W1 chip which allows the device to have nearly double the battery life. Solo 2 only had about 12 hours of battery life while Solo 3 now has about 40 hours. It also charges rather quickly. With just charging your headphones for 5 minutes, you can get 2 hours of uninterrupted headphone usage, no problem.

There is a slight weight difference where Solo 3 is lighter than the first. This is always great for it makes wearing the headphones for long periods of time more bearable.

Both headsets can be stored easily with the stylish carrying bag that is included with most Beats wireless headphones and the high-quality materials are great, although it is a bit too much plastic for our liking.

Overall, the Solo 3 is clearly a step up to the Solo 2, and Beats really took into account their customers’ feedback and adapted these headphones to answer their requests.

Overall Thoughts

When it comes to a Beats Solo 3 review, our overall thought is that the Beats Solo 3 Wireless headphones are a great all-around headphone, especially when looking into the Beats Solo 3 wireless price. It’s a tech-savvy headphone that allows you to quickly charge, listen to music comfortably for hours on end, and reduce background noise with the noise-canceling properties.

We really love the comfort and stability of the Bluetooth connection which is great for Apple users. The Bluetooth isn’t the easiest for Samsung users, which is a flaw for users and something that you should take into consideration when purchasing.

We think that there are areas in which the Beats Solo 3 headphones can definitely improve, such as when it comes to the Beats Solo 3 headphones noise canceling properties and sound quality. Overall though, this headphone isn’t the best on the market today, but it’s certainly a great option and for the Beats Solo 3 wireless price.

We also love the color choices which a lot of Beats headphones have as well. The Beats Solo 3 wireless rose gold is definitely our favorite as we think it looks really sleek. If we were to pick, we’d definitely select the Beats Solo 3 Wireless rose gold.

We hope that you found this Beats Solo 3 review helpful in your search for the right headphones for you. In terms of the Beats Solo 3 wireless price, we think that it’s a pretty fair price and a great deal.
